Advantages Of A Propane Camp Stove

There’s no doubt about it, camping is an enjoyable experience that many people participate in each year. This is especially true if you come prepared with all the necessary equipment. The camping stove is just one of the things that most campers take with them on their excursions. These portable tools are used to quickly prepare hot meals and don’t take up too much space.

There are different varieties of these camping accessories you can use to prepare your food. Four types that are used regularly by campers include gas, pressurized liquid, unpressurized liquid and solid fuel stoves. The solid fuel models use hex blocks or gel alcohol as fuel. The fuel is very inexpensive, portable, and easy to transport. However, it can sometimes be difficult to find them in stores.

Gas models require compressed gases like propane or butane to use as fuel. These types are very easy to maintain, cheap, and lightweight. Fuel availability, however, can be a problem if you are camping in some remote places. When shopping for one of these truly useful tools, make sure you buy one that is portable so that there are no hassles in transporting it to and from the campsite.

A propane model is ideal for those who will only use their stove occasionally since they are very easy to use. All you have to do is attach the fuel bottle to the stove, open the valve and then light. The fuel is available in small bottles for camping purposes. These stoves are cheaper than those that use liquid fuels. A butane-fueled model also has most of the advantages of the propane type. However, you need to warm up butane bottles before using. Propane bottles work well even in cold conditions.

Propane burns cleanly and is available in conveniently sized bottles. It burns very hot and is an excellent fuel for cooking. Carrying the thick gas cylinders can be annoying though. This is especially true if you are carrying a lightweight backpack and sleeping bag in addition to other camping gear. This can turn into a major problem if you have to travel long distances. Disposing of the cylinders when they are empty can also be a problem. Because of this some people prefer to use wood burning models. Which one you decide to go with depends on your needs and personal preferences.

Since many campsites don’t offer the necessary equipment to prepare your food, you’ll have to bring your own equipment if you want to eat a hot meal. The portable camp stove is a great way to accomplish this without disturbing the environment around you.
